Machine-Star is looking for a full-time display CNC operator and programmer at our facility in Grand Rapids, MI. An experienced candidate should have a vast knowledge of CNC softwares to create high-end displays within a fast pace setting.

Each project differs from the prior, and requires a deep knowledge and problem solving mindset. Projects include, but are not limited to, flat displays, 3 dimensional objects, machined signs, cabinetry, large store displays and tradeshow booths. There may be 1,000 pieces, or possibly just a single prototype. We have CNC Mills, routers and lathes. We mainly cut plastic sheets, composites and MDF sheet material. We also cut light metals when needed and on rare occasions a steel insert or two.

No two days are alike, therefore, the perfect candidate would be comfortable extending their skills outside of their position when needed to assist other areas of the shop. This could include shipping/packaging, production assembly, and/or possible traveling for installations.

Requirements:
-A valid Drivers License and reliable mode of transportation
-A high school Diploma, 2 yr or 4 yr College degree is a plus
-Good written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to work on a team and be self motivated
-Good math skills
-Willingness to learn
-Ability to follow instructions
-A positive work ethic

Skillsets needed for this job:
-Knowledge of running a CNC mill or router
-Knowledge of CAD/CAM (we have Fusion, BOBCAD, Cimagrafi and Kubotek Key Creator.
-Ability to 3D design is a plus, 2D design and toolpathing is a must
-Ability to lift 50lbs.

Materials used will be wood, metal, plastic and composite materials. We will be building large pop up shops that will be installed in retail stores across the country. Someone with general building skills will pick things up quickly. The majority of this work will be custom fabrication. Almost everything is cut on the CNC. Non-CNC production equipment used on occasion.

Machine-Star is looking for a full-time production painter to handle tasks including pre-paint, finish prep, sanding, and painting. This is an in-house position at our facility in Grand Rapids, MI. An experienced candidate should have a vast knowledge of painting and maintaining the 14x30ft in-house spray booth within a high pace work setting.

Each project differs from the prior, and requires a deep knowledge and problem solving mindset. Projects include, but are not limited to, flat displays, 3 dimensional objects, machined signs, cabinetry, large store displays and tradeshow booths. There may be 1,000 pieces, or possibly just a single prototype. Majority of materials painted will be plastics and assembled MDF displays. Sometimes we paint metal and different composite materials. Some displays will need pre-finishing, filling, sanding etc. before primer and final paint/clear coat.
Knowledge of paint prep process and mixing is a must. We use ML Campbell paints the majority of the time and a few others depending on application. Recently have begun the switch to Envirolak Water Based Products. Most of our processes are already figured out, 90% of materials painted and paint types used are repetitive, however you will be responsible for researching and using the correct paints on the material being painted.

-Will be asked to perform a spray test
